Willunga Almond Blossom Festival
The Willunga Almond Blossom Festival is a long-running community festival held at Willunga Recreation Park on the Fleurieu Peninsula. Celebrating more than 50 years, the annual event marks the almond blossom season with a weekend of family entertainment, local food and community activities while raising funds to support the recreation park.
Visitors can enjoy carnival rides, side shows, an animal nursery, circus performers, camel and pony rides, live local music, market stalls and a wide selection of food, wine and beer.
Saturday evening concludes with the festival's annual fireworks display, while Sunday features the traditional Almond Cracking Competition.
The festival also includes an almond-inspired cookery competition, children's entertainment, science shows, roving performers and opportunities to explore the region's remaining almond blossom trails using official self-drive and picnic maps.
Suitable for all ages, the festival combines a country fair atmosphere with local history and community spirit.
It is a licensed, non-smoking event with food and beverage outlets on site, and visitors are encouraged to explore the surrounding township and almond blossom locations during their visit.
